I started with photography as a kid in the 90's with a Canon point and shoot camera that I took with me to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a Winston Cup Race. Before too long I got a film SLR camera and really started down the photography road. A lot of my early photography was taking pictures at various races that I attended.
I've been interested in radio since I was a kid. I spent a lot of time listening to shortwave radio and scanners at that time. After graduating college I decided it was time to get an amateur radio license. In January of 2006 I passed the test and got my license. I eventually upgraded to General and then Extra. More recently I changed my callsign to KG0E for it to be shorter and easier to use on the air. My primary interests these days are Parks on the Air, APRS, Digital modes, and I've recently started learning Morse Code.
I've been into hockey for a long time but my love of it really took off attending games which I was a student at Michigan Tech. After graduation I started going to a lot of games at home peaking at 149 games in a season in 2011. At the age of 35 I started playing the lowest level of beer league. I am terrible but I love playing.
I've been interested in aviation for as long as I can remember. While my health makes it unlikely that I'll ever be a pilot I get my aviation fix by going to airshows, visiting airports, listening to ATC, and watching ADS-B. The highlight of all this for me is going to EAA Airventure every year.
Rally events use Amateur Radio volunteers for communications during their events and this is where I was first exposed to rally. I was pretty well hooked after the first time and have volunteered for events as often as possible. From talking to people involved with rally I learned about TSD (road) rally in which I stated participating. With my girlfriend as a co-driver we have won our class in 75% of the TSD rallies we have entered.
